I have two in the series listed in the website.. I have several of these very folk art character dolls all wooden, about 4.5 TO 5 inches tall wooden head, clothespin body on a balsa wood type stand.. Studio Jay stamped on bottom of stand. this is the Bondaging lady.. called Peg the Bondager.. has a tag and says Handmade in Monpeth England... Studio Jay tag, Bondager Peg CD 74 wearing a long cotton brown garment with burlap apron, brown light shawl wrapped around her. she has a woven head scarf over a brown felt hat.. she has a tiny wooden face, hand painted and grey or off white hair. carrying two baskets.. under her long brown garment is a striped heavy cotton slip, she is a clothespeg doll on a studio Jay stand.. filed doll room shelf 2 inv 12 2020 Bondaging lingered on in Northumberland to the end of the 19th century... this history is copied and attached to the bottom of the box as I received her.. Bondager Peg would have had a hard life and wore rough homespun clothes.. her skirt is tucked up to keep the skirt out of the mud and wrapped herself in shawls and scarves against the cold northern winds. handmade in Northumbria, Studio Jay. very detail crafted, piece of history. inventory 1641. lovely condition. she is loose in this box. look for the other characters similarly made all with a history. inventory 1641 doll shelf 2 dollroom ok 12 2020 inv. .. the color is off a bit in pictures. linen color beige apron and dark brown clothing.
