4.5 to 4.75 inches tall all original a great part of the Inuit Canadian history. He is in his original box with papers and history and Eskimo tag. Ookpik, which means “snowy owl” or “Arctic owl” in Inuktitut, is the name of one of the most popular of Inuit handicrafts, a souvenir sealskin owl with a large head and big eyes. In the 1960s, Ookpik became a popular national symbol after the federal government chose it to represent Canada at the 1963 trade fair in Philadelphia. Handmade by Inuit in Northwest Territories, Canada. This is a stuffed sealskin owl with large round leather and felt eyes. The Ookpik became an important symbol of Canada and the North.
Made from seal fur, hide, cotton thread and felt.
Measures: 4.75" tall x 3" wide x 1.75" deep
In very good vintage condition, no damage or wear. and ours is in original box with tags just a plain black box with plastic cover, original price tag from Hudsons Bay.
