Description
I found this write up on Marybel the doll that got well, canadian doll by D&C circa 1959 to 1960 and original box as well. lovely.. I note the original shoes are missing, one owner doll.. In 1959, the world was finally fit for a doll who wasnt. Venerable New York dollmaker, Madame Alexander, created Marybel, the Doll Who Gets Well, as a friend for little girls afflicted with a myriad of malaise. Marybels rosy cheeks, delightful curls and amber sleep eyes (which Alexander invented in the 1940s) barely hinted at the hypochondriac heaven contained within the dolls deluxe box set. Marybel by Madame Alexander Although she had a limp, Marybel was no gimp. She stood proudly at 16 inches tall and came with an unusual endorsement for toys of the day: Approved by leading pediatricians and psychotherapists. Marybels accessories included crutches, slippers, leg and arm casts, (kinda hip) glasses, Johnson & Johnson-branded sterile scale bandages and spots to simulate measles and chicken pox. At the time of her release, she sold for $12.95..   her accessories are shown in the pictures..... inventory #587.. almost too heavy to be shipped overseas,  and the box says dee & cee toy co. made in Canada..,,   go by pictures please..  inventoried doll room shelf w   the girl in pink outfit is sold and we have the pink box left..
