21'' 50-60 ITALY NAPOLI PUPA FLIRTY EYED CELLULOID DOLL, WOOL TARTAN OUTFIT

these flirty eyed dolls are so precious, have not seen too many of them over the years.... she is about 21 inches tall and made in Italian Pupa doll. Napoli on back of head also. in a triangle.. very tanned skin doll either lightweight plastic or celluloid. probably early plastic.. fully jointed as shown in pictures.. she went to the doll hospital to get her groomed and dressed.. She came back like this. Voila.. beautiful indeed.. very vintage red plaid wool pleated skirt and matching vest, and matching beret tam.. nice short sleeve cotton blouse. whicvh socks, black and tan shoes.. and looks like her original undies.. she has a speaker in front which is mute but probably could be replaced.. .. she came from a very large canadian doll estate and many years ago the owner put $140 on her.. Her body is like a cardboard material.. nice for display.. love those flirty eyes, notice a few lashes missing.. not absolutely perfect but great vintage Italian tall flirty doll... inventory 2027.. doll room.. Online I saw a similar doll and they mention the material as follows: RHODOID DOLL that was manufactured in the late 1940's or 50's in Italy and in a few other parts of Europe. Rhodoid is a form of celluloid, but it is non flammable and much safer, and another description from the net follows: These dolls were always hand painted by the young Italian girls in the village. To save on paint and rhodoid, the torso was made of very hard paper mache`.
