5'' JAY WOODEN PEG GIPSY DOLL PEDDLAR FORTUNE TELLER HISTORY, BOX

I have several of these very folk art character dolls all wooden, about 5 inches tall wooden head, clothespin body on a balsa wood type stand.. Studio Jay stamped on bottom of stand. this gypsy lady has a tag and says Handmade in Monpeth England... Studio Jay tag, Gipsy Peg CD 83 so assume this doll was made in the 1980s. very detail crafted, she has a long dark blue purple skirt with beads, colorful peasant top, head covering with beads, her fortune telling cards in one hand and a basket with little wooden pegs and a piece of lace inside.. darling lady. she is in a cardboard box as I received her with a photocopy of her Gipsy Peg history. attached to the bottom of the box.. she sells pegs and lace and tells fortunes to those who cross her palm with silver as she makes her way to the annual June horse fair at Appleby. etc. etc.. covered wagon picture shown at the bottom of the write up. nice piece of history. inventory 1641. lovely condition. she is loose in this box. look for the other characters similarly made all with a history.
