JEM was made by Hasbro. The doll line was produced from 1985 to 1986. To see if you have a true JEM doll, look on her back and it will say Hasbro 1985 or 1986. Under that it will read : China, Hong Kong. If you see these markings then more than likely you have a JEM doll.
2. Look on the back of her head for similar markings.
3. The dolls were bigger than barbie and had unique features such as: Wild colored hair ( pink, bright green, blue, white, deep red/pink) their knees and elbows would move and click three times for various positions, her bust line was smaller than barbies, her hips larger with larger thighs and legs, her feet were also larger.
4. On the JEM/Jerrica Dolls she had light up earrings with a switch on her back have a large assortment of Jem dolls. the above is from the internet.. this is for two white blonde long haired Jem dolls with intense eye make up.. one has the battery at the back and light up earrings, the other doesn't.. both go together.. both wearing pink dresses as I received them.. nice size Barbie type fashion dolls with a fashion statement.. SO THE ONE IN THE SHIMMERY SATINY LONG PINK DRESS WITH SILVER RICK RACK TRIM and no magic button on the back says 1985 Hasbro made in China.. she is so articulated, wrists too and lovely blue painted eyes, pink eyeshadow and very long soft platinum white hair.. painted smile and no earrings.. previously owned, and her friend with the light up ears and heavy pink eyeshadow and pink lips closed, articulated wrists, different hair style in white blonde. is a 1985 Hasbro also and made in Hong Kong. back of her cute head says Hasbro also.. both have holes in the bottom of their feet for a stand I presume.. both go home together combined.. inventory #1379 and their knees click nicely too. and a bit of info on these dolls This is when Hasbro really got it all so right! Jem/Jerrica came with her microphone, stage dress, tights, shoes, comb, bracelet, reversible belt, daytime dress, hat, sunglasses and stand but, surprisingly, no cassette!
These were the early days and the music really hadn't taken off yet. Another interesting and not so well known fact about the original Jem/Jerricas is that you can line up a row of them and each one has slightly different make-up and face shape. DOLL ROOM collector ds
