Description HARD TO DESCRIBE THIS SIGNED HOBE BROOCH, UNUSUAL COVERINGS OVER THE METAL. A CIRCLE OF ORANGE TOPAZ RHINESTONES IN THE MIDDLE.. SHAPED LIKE A FLOWER. SOME WEAR ON SOME OF THE FINISHES.. THE SHAPE IS LIKE AN OAK LEAF. .. ABOUT 2.75 INCHES IN DIAMETER.. FILED 2 2025 INV.. A WRITE UP ON HOBE Hobe et Cie was founded in Paris in 1887 by Jacques Hobe. His concept was to use fine jewelry techniques and non-precious materials to create jewelry for the middle class as well as for the wealthy. Brought to America in 1915 by his son William, Hobe jewelry was popular not only with everyday customers, but also with the Hollywood stars and such luminaries as Flo Ziegfield. Inspired by period jewelry of the past, Hobe jewelry had an historic flavor. On a search I found this brooch similar to miriam haskell's works.. The name HOBE is synonymous with quality, especially in their earlier pieces. Although they made buckles and accessories in the late 1800s, their costume jewelry from the 1930-50’s years are my personal favorites. Their wire-worked designs and fabulous stones create a unique old-world style. When they combine objects into their jewelry, such as in the elephant brooch below, they take creativity to a new high.
