Description Pattern Description: Tunic: This tunic has a strong Asian background. The wide collar with the front notch and pointed sleeve openings are seen in many of the old traditional Chinese garments. The large front fold over pleat and side vents also mimic the traditional looks. There is an optional inseam pocket or a patch pocket for today's necessities. The back pleat is sewn in, but the front pleat opens up and the garment actually slides on an off over the head then the pleat folds back over and is secured. This eliminates complicated closures and making sewing quick and easy. Lots of possibilities to embellish the front of the tunic, several ideas are included in the pattern. The sizing is generous in the side seams for relaxed wearing. The sleeves have a tapered cut eliminating unnecessary fullness. The sizing adjustments are done at the "On The Body" fitting during sewing construction to insure a proper fit. You will move side seams in or out as needed allowing easy sizing adjustments for what ever size your "real" figure is. Pants: The pants have elastic at the waist for easy pull-on comfort. The legs taper down for a cropped hem and there is a clipped notch in the back for extra detailing. There are also inseam pockets for your small necessities. By using the half yard markings you can calculate pattern piece placements to see how much changes, if any, in yardage. Fabric Suggestion: Tunic: Pick fabric that has a medium to soft drape. Don't pick fabric with a lot of stretch or that is "clingy". The large fold over pleats need to move as you move. Anything real stiff will look too boxy and may "bunch" under the arms. There are only 2 basic pattern pieces so everything falls from your shoulders. Pick a tight weave so this ample design will hold its shape and this will also make sewing easier. You might want to consider a contrasting color for the cuff and hem facings. Pants: Pick about any fabric that you would choose for a basic pull-on pair of pants. You will want a tight weave with a soft to medium drape.
